So many couples have been forced to change their plans because of Covid-19. Alex & Martin are one of those couples. They had started planning their wedding, with 250 guests (!!!) before lockdown hit in South Africa. After 10 years together they decided that there was actually no time like the present to get married and they had a lovely garden they could use at home for the wedding.

The wedding was a surprise to their guests… they only let their immediate family – parents and siblings – know three days before the wedding that they were actually not just coming over for lunch, but their wedding. They invited 20 of their closest friends to join the post-ceremony celebration and only told them the day before that they were getting married.

On the day, everyone was super relaxed and made the most of their time together, catching up. It was one of those perfect Johannesburg spring days, with clear skies, warm weather and cold beers in the garden.

Alex, Martin and Megan (the photographer) went off after the ceremony to take photos in the Bryanston Forest and on the rooftop of a friend’s house around the corner before returning to the house to relax and chat with their family before their delicious lunch.

Friends arrived as the sun was going down to congratulate and celebrate with them (until it was time to go home before curfew).

What a great way to kick off post-lockdown weddings! Alex and Martin, you guys are so great together and just make it look easy. It was awesome to work with you and help create this special day 🙂
