Ameigh & Colin had their big wedding planned…. but then, you know, Covid happened. So rather than waiting another year to tie the knot, they decided to break it up into two events over two years. We were so lucky to find the gorgeous Springgrove Estate in the middle of nowhere in Mpumalanga for their minimony *.
Thirty-odd of their closest friends and family joined them for a weekend of wedding celebrations. It started with a boma braai on the Friday, and Easter egg hunt on the Saturday morning (it was the Easter weekend and who says adults can’t hunt for eggs??). That afternoon, the ceremony was held in a beautiful forest and introduced by the flower grannies. It included a wine blending ceremony, perfect for a couple of wine connoisseurs.
While guests drank gin cocktails and played lawn games, they adventured around the huge property for their creative couple shoot. The evening’s celebrations were held in The Shed and included a speech from a a best man in Australia (technology is amazing when it works!). Guests danced late into the night – a novelty after so many months of lockdown.
This is their minimony and they will have their sequel wedding * over the same weekend in 2022.
* All guests were Covid tested on the Thursday and the venue followed all Covid-19 protocols and lockdown laws.
* Minimony – a smaller version of the original wedding, with the actual ceremony and bit of fun afterwards
* Sequel wedding – a postponed wedding reception, ideally using the original venue, suppliers and guest list, just at a later date.
