When I first got the call from Stef that she had this amazing couple wanting to elope to South Africa the next week I didn’t really believe her. I know my couples are brave, adventurous and spontaneous souls but I haven’t met a couple who were THAT brave..
… well until I met Zhou Ziwei & Qin Yuanhao (or their English names that they graciously let us use..Stanley and Yolanda!)
Stanley had lived in Johannesburg years before so knew it was an ideal place to elope. (A good mix of easily accessible suppliers and some great venue choices… brave, adventurous and smart) So when his company booked a week of meetings in Johannesburg Yolanda came with him and they made their stay a perfect mix of business and pleasure.
On Friday we met on Skype, Saturday they arrived in Joburg, Monday we went dress shopping and somewhere between Tuesday and Thursday we found a venue, pastor, hair and makeup artist and created a once off ribbon and roses backdrop for them.
It was the best week ever and it was so great to get to know two people so well in such a short time.
The couple had a relaxed afternoon getting ready, taking photos and enjoying the gardens of Oxbow estate. They then shared their incredibly romantic vows under the willows as they celebrated the love and romance side of their marriage for the first time.
I have always said that you don’t need to understand a person’s language to understand what they are saying and that was definitely confirmed when Yolanda and Stanley had us all in tears with their vows, that were exchanged in Chinese Mandarin.
Stanley and Yolanda I cant thank you enough for including me on this romantic whirlwind of yours! I hope the rest of your marriage is as exciting, relaxed and special as this week was.
This last image was stolen as we were leaving the venue. We all drove out and saw this incredible sunset in front of us so like total crazy people we stopped on the side of the road and ran to this little mound and Stef was able to snap this spectacular last shot.
I really feel like this shot captures the spirit of the day.. planned last minute, spontaneous and just for the couple! (Thank you Mother nature/Africa…you are my favorite type of show off)
