The garden route is quickly becoming one of my favorite places, to work and just generally be, in South Africa. Without decorating or styling a thing the areas beauty will blow you away and as soon as the sun starts going down… man oh man… it just transforms everything into this golden magic land.
When Emily Moon got hold of me to be part of this shoot they wanted to create something that would show the world the type of weddings Emily Moon can host and love to celebrate. These are stylish, laid back and intimate weddings. Elopements and destination wedding… pretty much every thing I adore! Without totally geeking out I can tell you I was thrilled (nervous as heck that there was no way I could make such a beautiful place any more beautiful…but thrilled.)
We came up with a modern take on the African Safari wedding, celebrating the soul of Africa but in a more contemporary and authentic way. This tied into to the Legend of Emily Moon beautifully.
It is a very special experience to be able to forage around a venue to find all of the little flower and décor treasures you get to use in the setup. This elopement shoot is easily one of the tables and concepts I am most proud of to date.
The beautiful local tree tomatoes, figs and pumpkin were bought from the local farmers market (and then eaten afterwards…because wasting food is just not an option) while the flowers were all carefully picked on the Emily Moon grounds.
Lloyd and Kelly are so in love which made this celebration so much more worthwhile and easy to capture. Just look at the way Lloyd looks at Kelly… it is truly something sacred.
Their day went from a morning hike, to a relaxed time of signature cocktail classics, writing their vows to getting ready together, a sweet bridal ‘reveal’ at the river and an afternoon of photos… this all followed by a romantic table for two, the sunset over the ocean and wine by the fire. A more perfect day you could not wish for.
Thank you Emily Moon for choosing me to help show case the beauty that is you.
The Team of incredible talent that made this day every thing that it was, thank you for trusting this idea and working so hard to make it come to life:
