Judith is the photographer behind Judith Bell adventure stories. She always looks at things a little differently. So when she asked me to be part of a creative shoot that celebrated this spiky little bottle brush flower I was too excited.
We took a flower she loves & put together a shoot in a city she loves – differently.
City shoots, City weddings, Urban chic, Rooftop this that and the next thing & Cityscapes are such a ‘thing’ at the moment that it can start to feel like ‘you’ve seen one graffiti portrait you’ve seen them all’ but it doesn’t have to be like that.
This shoot showed me that you can bring your own personality and a softness to the city. The city doesn’t have to be a jungle… it can be your own little smoke filled sanctuary where you get to dance in the light and be forgotten by the world down below for just one day.
I created flower ‘dream catchers’ that brought in the colour of the bottle brush while still letting it be the focus and star of the installation. A simple couch set up served as the ceremony backdrop and ‘reception’ set up.
We decided to go for an elopement sized bubbly and cupcake box instead of the bigger versions that often go to waste when there are only two people.
Bridgette’s bouquet was a collection of three smaller flower ‘dream catcher’s’ and was a beautiful alternative to an all flower bouquet. Thabiso’s jacket was a stunning deep velvet.
I hope you enjoy these images and video as much as I do. Bridgette and Thabiso thank you for sharing your love with us and bringing all our ‘different’ city wedding ideas to life.
Dont forget to watch the amazing film of this celebration below.
