Liubov and Nicohan were supposed to get married in April 2020, but then, you know, Covid… As soon as borders reopened, they booked their flight from Zambia to SA and we were back on! They wanted to do something different, and different it was! We did a tour of iconic sites around Cape Town, taking wedding photos along the way. With the help of our driver Jade, from Cape Town Group and our guide Carol Scott (the best and friendliest guide in Cape Town in my opinion!), we had a great day being driven around, learning about this beautiful city. Selma & Andre from Expressions Photography filled out the rest of our group, taking the most stunning photos and keeping energy levels up and conversation flowing.
We started out at their guest house in Bakoven and up Chapman’s Peak Drive with our first photo stop overlooking Hout Bay. True to Cape Town, the wind was pumping, but it really added that something extra to the photos and Liubov’s dress! From there we drove over the mountain to Boulders Beach to hang out with the penguins and get a few beach shots. Our next port of call was Kalk Bay Harbour, where the wind was so strong that waves were breaking over the harbour wall, spraying everyone… but we did get so see a few grumpy seals.
Silvermist Estate was our next stop. This was the perfect spot for some forest and vineyard photos (and a chance to buy a bottle of wine or two). After that, it was off to the amazingly colourful and historic Bo-Kaap. Liubov’s red dress really worked so well with the bright houses.
The last stop on the tour was Signal Hill. The views are spectacular…. Table Mountain on one side with the city below and the Atlantic Seaboard and Robben Island on the other.
After a quick stop back at Ocean View House for Liubov and Nicohan to freshen up, we went to their ceremony spot – Maiden’s Cove. I mentioned the wind earlier, but WOW! I was literally hanging on to a tree so that I wouldn’t blow away and we were trying very hard not to be blown over (here’s video proof from our IG page). Liubov and Nicohan exchanged vows and declared their love surrounded by the 12 Apostles and the sun setting over the ocean. It was truly breathtaking!
After a busy and super fun day, they shared a romantic dinner at top restaurant, Salsify at the Roundhouse.
* Covid-19 safety protocols were observed. We sanitized regularly and wore masks all day, except the couple when they being photographed.
