My couples are the people of the world who see things differently, who see marriage differently and the couples who do things differently.
So when these two wandering albatross decided to make their promise to each other ‘official’ they did it in an informal celebration that was the truest version of them, just outside Plettenberg Bay in the Harkerville Forest (here is a super interesting post on how to create your own forest garden).
On a dark afternoon in a forest that sparkled with rain drops and was in bloom with little wild iris, a handful of family and friends stood and witnessed these lovely souls say ‘I do’.
We celebrated afterwards with cake (one of them being a flippen delicious vegan wheat free cake) and champagne. There was no music, just the sounds of nature. Followed by a divine family style feast, log fires and more champagne at Newstead Wine farm.
What was really cool about this couple is that they also had a Johannesburg based cocktail ‘reception’ 2 weeks after their forest ceremony, allowing them two very different, very special celebrations.
For their Joburg ‘bubbly reception’ we bought a little bit of the forest to Joburg. Through their fern and foliage decor and all the stories of their day, their friends and family that weren’t able to celebrate with them in the forest (because they wanted to keep their forest ceremony small and intimate) were still included in their celebrations.
It was a very special two (and a bit) days…
