Taryn and Ruan wanted to celebrate their relationship and marriage in a simple, elegant and special way.
Far from the mad crowds of Cape Town, in the heart of Gansbaai, we found a spectacular venue for their intimate wedding, in the form of Farm 215 nature retreat and fynbos reserve. Oh what a retreat it was. Over two days the couple and their few guests soaked up the surroundings, nature and tranquility. Making it a time of friendship, family and love.
They wanted to source as many fresh, local items for their wedding day as possible. This lead us on an amazing treasure hunt of local farms, produce and Hermanus bakery’s (Duncan & Greg you ultimate wedding cake hunters you!) We had the once in a life time experience of visiting the flower farm (just down the road) that supplied all of the indigenous Protea’s and Fynbos used in Taryn’s bouquet and the wedding day decor. The wine for the night also didn’t travel far as it was from Farm 215’s sister farm Lomond right next door.
This type of ‘buying local’ when you aren’t actually a local takes an amazing amount of trust and a pretty adventurous soul as Taryn and Ruan had no specifics for the flowers or food they were getting, no mock tables and no guarantees!
A wide open afternoon ceremony by the pool with family and friends followed by a ‘secret’ vow exchange and couples shoot in the mountains made this an intimate wedding with the heart of an elopement. They finished their amazing day around a candle lit table of family, food and wine.
This is a celebration of two people I will not quickly forget. Taryn & Ruan thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your love story.
